Sheri, a sophomore of Clyde High School has been selected as the(NAAP) National Association of Activity Professional's Jr. Volunteer of the Year. At the yearly national conference of NAAP in Scottsdale, Arizona in April, an awards ceremony took place to honor Sheri and other Honorees receiving awards for various accomplishments. We are very proud of Sheri!
NAAP is the national organization that represents activity professionals in geriatric settings exclusively. They serve as the voice of the activity profession on national issues concerning long-term care facilities, retirement living, assisted-living, adult day services, and senior citizen centers. NAAP is nationwide in scope with a growing membership in Canada and Bermuda.
Sheri was picked from nominees sent in from all across the United States, Canada, as well as Bermuda. Sheri volunteers time during summers, holidays, spring breaks, as well as some weekends at Heritage Place in Abilene, an independent seniors community, helping in activities, doing anything from serving at parties, to entertaining, one of one, or you may find her in the office filing or anywhere a helping had or foot may be needed.
She has always been taught to share time for the benefit of others around her. This award is an exciting honor for one so young. Other credits of service include library volunteer, Zoo Teen at the Abilene Zoological Gardens, teaching young children about animals, as she has for the past four zoo summer campus. While on visits in Temple, Texas, during summer vacation, she volunteers time at the Weston Inn Health Center on a daily basis.
Although busy with church activities, keeping honor academics, student council officer, cheerleading, all district band, as well as regional contests, Beta Club, and sports, she is always willing to give of her most valuable asset, time , for the service and benefit of others around her.
