Outside Reading |
|
| |
English IV students are required to read a library book every six weeks. At the end of the six weeks, the student takes a book test over the novel read. The classes go to the library two to three times during the six weeks to check in/out books. The book list is in the library and in my classroom. The technology department is working to publish this online once again. AP English III and Pre-AP English I read novels outside class and read additional genre selections inside class.

Credit Points |
|
| |
English IV students are able to add twelve points to their average each six weeks by completing quotes credits and attending cultural events in the community.

Research Paper |
|
| |
All of my classes do a research paper during the second six weeks. This is worth 40% of the third six week's average, not the second six week's average. The paper is due on or before November 7, 2008. We spend four of the six weeks working on the paper. We are in the classroom, library, and computer lab. Some of the work will need to be done outside of those areas and using time apart from the school day. This is an important learning objective and is a requirement for these students.
