Clyde CISD requires a minimum of 135 minutes a week of Physical Education classes for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. These classes regularly emphasize moderate to vigorous activity.
Fitness Assessment
The physical fitness status of your child is evaluated every year by the Physical Education teachers. "FitnessGram" is one of the tools used by the teachers to accomplish this in third grade through 12th grade. The District is planning to mail the results home with the last report card (May 2008). Feel free to contact your child's teacher, in writing or a phone call, if you have any questions about your child's fitness assessment.
What is "Body Mass Index" or BMI mean?
The School Health Advisory Council has determined that Body Mass Index (BMI) results of the first graders will be mailed home this schol year. If you have questions, please contact your child's school nurse.
Vending Machine Policy
Vending machine foods are not be available to Elementary or Intermediate campus students at any time during the school day. Vending machine food that is available to Junior High and High School students is consistent with the current Texas public school Nutrition Policy which stipulates that the vending machines may be turned on before and after school only.
Tobacco Policy and Penalities
Clyde CISD students are prohibited from possessing tobacco products according to the Clyde CISD Student Code of Conduct. Penalties are outlined under Discipline Management Techniques on pages 10-11 of the Student Code of Conduct. At the beginning of every year, each student and parent is required to sign an acknowledgment that they have received a copy of the Student Code of Conduct and that they understand that students will be accountable for their behavior and will be subject to the disciplinary consequences outlined in the Code. Furthermore, all persons are prohibited from using tobacco products on school property. Employees of Clyde CISD are prohibited from using tobacco products at school-sponsored events.
